Gelganyem Trust has implemented a number of initiatives and supported projects over a wide field including health, business development, culture, education and sport. Projects to date include:
- Indigenous Business Development,
- Renal Health Education Program,
- Clontarf East Kimberley Football Academy, Kununurra,
- Law and Culture Grounds Infrastructure Upgrade,
- East Kimberley Youth Wellbeing Support, and
- Cultural Centre Development Initiative.
Education and Training Fund
During the negotiation process Argyle made a second smaller financial offer to Traditional Owners as a once off payment to be made when the trust became a legal entity. Traditional Owners allocated these funds for Education and Training. There is no restriction on the use of the funds or investment policy other than for the benefit of Education and Training.
Shortly after Gelganyem became operational, workshops were held across the East Kimberley to find out from Traditional Owners a way to move forward. The results of the various workshops were startlingly similar. This gave Gelganyem the direction required to implement a number of programs.
